Birmingham International Fashion Week Official Press Launch

Me and Rach from Pretty Petticoats

March at Millennium Point, the event is the first annual fashion show to take place in Birmingham. It’s definitely been a talking point around Birmingham and the age old argument of “why doesn’t Birmingham have a fashion scene” has been rearing it’s ugly head.

Personally, I do think it’s a shame that there’s not more support for young artists and designers. We’re missing out on a whole industry and although there are a few opportunities for talented artistic individuals, the city is losing too many bright young things to the big smoke.

But I digress. I can’t wait for the show, fingers crossed I’ll be going! Everyone’s really excited and I’m so pleased that the guys at BIFW are putting Birmingham on the fashion map.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Official Press Launch at Mechu and had a great time. I didn’t take any pictures but here are some courtesy of Photo Matte, the official photographer on the night (he’s a doll, go say hi over at his website).

In addition to the yummy popcorn, cupcakes and champagne, I finally got to meet Rach from Pretty Petticoats who won my giveaway last year. Rach has been commenting (I love reading comments!!) and I found out that she was coming to Brum to study and have been hoping to meet her ever since. Well I finally got my wish and got to meet Becca from Fashion Train too into the bargain! I had a great time and loved meeting the girls so I really hope we get to meet up again soon.

Sale Haul – Biba keyrings and Bodum travel mug

I didn’t really get much in the sales this year, to be honest I think they’re overhyped as there’s sales all year round anyway. But here’s just a few pieces I picked up last month.

I adore Biba and would own at least one handbag, one clutch bag and a couple of dresses if I could.

For now, I’ll satisfy myself with these luxe Biba keyrings. I recently went to a wedding and saw a guest with what I thought was a Biba bag. After admiring her and asking her about the bag, she shared this great idea with me. It was in fact a Topshop clutch with a Biba keyring! I’m shamelessly going to do this with my black studded clutch!

You might still be able to pick one up at House of Fraser if you’d like to try it out for yourself.

Boring but necessary, this Bodum travel mug in cheery purple. Perfect for gals on the go haha!

Outfit post: All black and a studded clutch

A super quick outfit post for you guys. I know I promised to do more this year so here's a start. I need to hit the gym so it’s back to fail safe black at the moment. I picked up this dress from Asda for less than the price of a bottle of wine and it’s great for keeping warm in the chilly British winter. The heels were from M&S and are a great classic court shape. The black studded clutch bag is a blogger favourite, except this is the bargain version from Primark!

A little boring I know but sometimes a girl’s got to keep warm!

Is black your fail safe too?

Black wedge heels and a zebra t shirt

New Look T shirt, Primark Leggings, Office Wedges

Don’t you just love it when an outfit comes together? These are all pieces that I purchased separately but they came together in such a way that you’d think I planned it.

Starting with the T Shirt, it somehow reminds me of Givenchy’s famous panther t shirt and is a great relaxed but cool item for any wardrobe with it’s cut off sleeves.

The leggings are somewhere in between wet look and matt and a Primark bargain!

Last but not least, I was searching for these Office November wedges for ages. When I tried them on it the shop I couldn’t believe how comfortable they were. I hope that they’re not too uncomfortable to wear for a few hours because I just love them! I don’t know what else they’d go with to be honest so any advice would be welcomed!

I can’t wait to wear this outfit but you’ll just have to wait until I’ve lost a little bit of weight first J

What would you wear these black wedge boots with?
