Puro Organic Hair Salon Birmingham 2nd Birthday Party

The guys at Puro Organic Hair Salon very kindly invited me to their second birthday party. I’ve heard such great things about the salon but never actually been inside, so I wanted to put things right.

The evening was really interactive and I had a hair elasticity test, scalp massage and hair colour consultation with Lindsey.  The first test involved wetting around a dozen strands of hair and pulling on them, and showed that my hair is in need of protein and the scalp massage was dreamy.

The canapés were so much fun, Kola Kubes and Mini Eggs, and we were given some gorgeous samples to take away. I got a mini bottle of Organic Care System Aqua Boost Conditioner, which is certified organic and nourishes hair, leaving it moisturised and protected from UV rays. I also got a sachet of Kevin Murphy Luxury Wash (SLS and Paraben free shampoo for thick dry coloured hair) and Kevin Murphy Body Guard leave in crème that smoothes dry ends and protects hair from mechanical damage.

I’ve used the Kevin Murphy sachets and was really impressed. The shampoo is quite thin but effective, and the conditioner is a leave in one. I didn’t know what to expect from the conditioner and thought it might be really greasy, but actually it was a really thin consistency and really did leave my hair feeling soft and a lot more manageable than usual.

I really want to learn more about hair and by using pricier products, I was surprised at the difference between these and the high street brands.

I managed to take a few quick snaps on my phone of the products they recommended but they’re not great.

I had a great time so thanks for the hospitality guys!

Room 31 and Fashion Floozy Competition Win!

The lovely Christine at Fashion Floozy was running a competition with Room 31 last week, and guess what? I won it!!!

It was super easy to enter, I took a peek at Room 31’s gorgeous range of clothes, shoes and accessories, picked my favourite (now that was the hardest part!), subscribed to Fashion Floozy by email and left a comment on this blogpost as well as on the Room 31 blog

And that was it! The next thing I knew, I’d been mentioned on Twitter a few times as the lovely peeps from Room 31 and Christine from Fashion Floozy tried to get in touch.

I couldn’t believe it, but look, here’s the proof that I won!

The package arrived super quick in a lovely pink bag and was carefully wrapped in pink tissue paper.

Here’s my lust have! The Talullah Vila Elasticated Floral Skirt in Blue. And it’s all mine!

I can’t believe I won this competition, it’s the first time I’ve won anything online and I’m just so grateful to Room 31 and Fashion Floozy. Thank you guys!!!

Have any of you bought anything from Room 31? What are your favourite items? I can’t choose!

NOTD: George Quick Dry Nail Varnish Swoosh

Walking past the George cosmetics aisle in Asda, I spotted that the nail polishes were on offer for a pound each. Naturally, I picked up three. Here’s the first NOTD from my teeny tiny haul.

The nail polish is a quick dry formula (moderately true) in a great orangey coral shade for summer called Swoosh. It’s lasted pretty well, just under a week without topcoat and although the bottle is only 5ml, it’s really good value and easy to use. Thumbs up!
